The “pop room,” also known as the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), is where patients recover from anesthesia after surgery. Staff closely monitor vital signs and provide pain management, postoperative assessments, and gradual awakening. Family members may join once patients are stable. Patients stay for varying periods based on their recovery needs, transitioning to a hospital room or home when ready. Nurses are trained in post-anesthesia care and equipped to handle emergencies. Patient privacy is respected, and documentation ensures continuity of care. Education is provided on postoperative care and follow-up appointments. Comfort measures, nutritional support, and communication with the surgical team are prioritized. The primary focus is on patient safety, comfort, and well-being during the critical postoperative recovery period.
The Ghana Police Hospital was established in 1976. The primary function is to provide quality health care to members of the Ghana Police Service and their families and the general public.
